Talat Aziz
Talat Aziz is a ghazal singer, composer, and actor from Hyderabad, India. He was born on November 11, 1956, to a family that loved fine arts and organized mehfils (musical gatherings) in their house. Aziz was inspired by ghazal maestros like Begum Akhtar, Mehdi Hassan, and Jagjit Singh, who were frequent visitors to his home. He started learning music early and trained under the Kirana Gharana. He also received guidance from Mehdi Hassan, who became his mentor and friend.
Talat Aziz released his first album in 1980, composed by Jagjit Singh. It was a huge hit and established him as a promising ghazal singer. He then sang for films like Umrao Jaan and Bazaar, where he delivered memorable songs like Zindagi Jab Bhi and Phir Chidi Raat. Aziz also acted in films like Dhun and Fitoor. Aziz has performed in many concerts across India and abroad, sharing the stage with legends like Mehdi Hassan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, and others. He has also composed music for TV serials like Deewar, Baaz, Adhikaar, Ghutan, Sailaab, Aashirwad, and Noorjahan.
Talat Aziz is known for his expressive rendition of ghazals, a form of Urdu poetry that deals with themes like love, pain, longing, separation, and spirituality. He has a rich and versatile voice that can convey the depth and emotion of the lyrics.
